Thinking About Getting Back on Two Wheels?

Our new Motorcycle Assessments can help you ride again - safely and confidently!

If you're a motorcyclist with a medical condition or disability and you're wondering whether it's still safe for you to ride, we’re here to help!

At Herts Ability, we’re proud to offer motorcycle assessments in partnership with Edventure Rider Training - a trusted, DVSA-recognised provider of motorcycle instruction. Whether you're returning after a break or adapting to a change in health, our goal is to help you ride independently and safely.

Who’s It For?

These assessments are designed for riders who already hold a valid motorcycle licence and want to assess their current ability to ride safely.

We cover all motorcycle licence categories:

  • AM - Mopeds
  • A1 - Light motorcycles
  • A2 - Medium motorcycles
  • A - Full unrestricted licence

What’s Involved?

✅ If You Also Hold a Car Licence

You’ll begin with a standard car driving assessment. This allows us to evaluate your general driving safety and ability.

You must:

  • Meet the DVSA's eyesight requirements
  • Show good physical ability and balance
  • Have no cognitive concerns
  • Be free of medical conditions that would bar a Group 2 (vocational) licence
  • Complete the drive without major issues

✅ If You Don’t Hold a Car Licence

No problem - we’ll start from a different point.

We’ll assess:

  • Your eyesight
  • Your physical and cognitive abilities

Then, you'll complete an on-road motorcycle assessment with our partners at Edventure Rider Training, who will provide a detailed report on your riding ability.

Making the Decision

Once we’ve reviewed all aspects of your assessment, we’ll make an informed recommendation on whether it’s safe for you to continue riding.

Our aim is simple: To help you return to the road with confidence, independence, and above all, safety!
