Herts Ability Expands Team to Support More People Living Independently

April 15, 2026

A Major Milestone for Disability and Mobility Support in Hertfordshire!

Something big is happening at Herts Ability - and it’s all about people.

As demand grows for specialist mobility, driving, and independent living support across Hertfordshire, we’re proud to announce a significant expansion of our team.

Over recent weeks, eight new team members have joined Herts Ability, marking an exciting step forward in our mission to help people live independently, safely, and confidently.

This growth reflects not only the increasing need for our services, but also our commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred support across the region.

Strengthening Our Services: New Roles, Greater Impact

Our newest recruits bring a wide range of expertise that strengthens every part of our organisation.

From specialist driving instructors supporting adapted driving lessons, to a clinician enhancing our assessment services, as well as skilled administrative professionals and a part-time manager ensuring seamless operations, each new team member plays a vital role in improving the support we provide.

And we’re not stopping here - additional occupational therapists will be joining us soon, further expanding our ability to deliver expert guidance on mobility, accessibility, and independent living solutions.

Our CEO, Sean Lawrence, highlights the importance of this growth:

“Every new face brings fresh energy, skills, and compassion - helping us make an even bigger difference to the people we support.”

Meet Fergal: Driving Independence Forward in Welwyn Garden City

Behind every service we deliver are people with a passion for making a difference - and Fergal is a perfect example.

Now part of our Welwyn Garden City team, Fergal brings nearly 40 years of driving experience, covering cars, motorbikes, and commercial vehicles. His extensive knowledge and calm, supportive approach make him ideally suited to helping individuals build confidence behind the wheel.

Fergal was inspired to join Herts Ability after seeing first-hand the life-changing impact of our adapted driving and mobility services. Recognising how vital these services are for people with disabilities and additional needs, he knew he wanted to contribute.

We’re delighted to have him on board - and even more excited about the difference he’s already making.

Expanding Access to Mobility and Independent Living Support

This period of growth represents more than just new hires - it’s about increasing access to essential services for people across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Essex, Cambs, London and surrounding areas.

With a larger, more diverse team, Herts Ability can now:

  • Support more individuals with adapted driving lessons and assessments
  • Provide enhanced mobility and independent living advice
  • Deliver faster, more responsive client support services
  • Extend our reach to communities that need us most

Every new team member helps us move closer to a future where everyone has the opportunity to live independently, regardless of their circumstances.

Looking Ahead: Building a More Independent Future Together

This is only the beginning.

As Herts Ability continues to grow, so does our impact. By investing in skilled, compassionate people, we are strengthening our ability to support individuals and families across Hertfordshire in meaningful, life-changing ways.

Because at the heart of everything we do is a simple goal: helping people live independently and with confidence!
